My Last Post Ever

This is probably going to be my last blog post ever.

I’ve been debating whether I should even post this, but I thought it would be an odd ending if this site just went dark altogether.

After exchanging several emails, it appears I’m going to be coming into a little – ok a LOT – of money. Without going into too much detail, I have been contacted by the executor of the estate of a man who died in an accident with no surviving relatives and no will. As a result of our emails, this gentleman has decided to give the family fortune to me!

As a sign of good faith, I gave him our bank information and he has deposited $25 into my account from his own funds. Now all we do is wait for the wire transfer. It may take a few days because of regulations on international transfers (checking for terrorism, corruption, etc) but I’m hopeful that it will be done this week. YAHOOTIE!

We’ve joked about what would happen if we won the lottery. Would I still work? Would I go into business for myself – a beach bar or an island marina?

Well, now that I kind of have won the lottery, the answers are clear: I’m have quit my job and I’m going to buy a boat. It’s possible that I’ll get a new car – just something to run around in while we’re making plans. I’m thinking we’ll get townhouse in Texas, and then a house on the island. I’m going to get something really shiny for my wife – she’s more than earned it – maybe even two somethings shiny! And then maybe travel to Europe & Australia and stay in the best five-star hotels. I know it may not be the best use of money to stay in the most expensive place in a city, but — at this point — not everything we do has to be “prudent”.

I couldn’t have imagined this in my wildest dreams, and yet — as soon as that wire transfer comes in — we’re going to RICH!!!

P.S. I’m not going to loan any to anyone. Sorry.

  1. Now you know why I dropped off of Twitter and Facebook…the same thing happened to us a few weeks ago. After all these years of playing the TX lottery and buying MegaMillions tickets, it turns out that I influenced the life of a many I only met once (and honestly, I don’t remember him) enough for him to set us up for the rest of our lives. Oddly enough, our email communication has only been through an email account I don’t even use…I generally just get spam through it.

    Kudos to you!

  2. Have you checked your calendar lately? All the money was transferred about 19 days ago :o)
