Stimulus? Eh

So the numbers are in and – with interest – the “stimulus” will cost $1.1 trillion dollars. Money that is borrowed, charged to you & I, and must all be repaid. $1.1 TRILLION dollars. Our entire national debt was $10 trillion – $35,000 for every man, woman, and child – and this is going to increase it by more than ten percent.

Perspective – If you were to spend $1 million dollars every day since Jesus was born, you still wouldn’t have spent a trillion dollars.

A trillion – $1,000,000,000,000 – one million stacks of one million dollars. A trillion dollars is a 98 million mile high stack of pennies. If you took one trillion dollars and laid them end to end – it would stretch from the Earth to the sun.

(Don’t get me started on the fact that the Congressional Budget Office says we will experience an economic decline as a result of the measures in the bill.)

$1.1 TRILLION… all on a bill that the Congressional Budget Office says will cause an economic decline. Damn.

Now – if you’ll excuse me – I have to go stack some pennies.

  1. I wonder how Michelle feels about Barack sharing his huge stimulus package?

Anyway, we’ll be happier if we just drink the free koolade and kneel five times a day facing Washington DC and pray

    The Lemmings’ Prayer

Our Gummint who art in everything,
    Intrusive be Thy Name.
    Thy Regs will come.
    They will be done.
Or else we will go to prison.
Tax from us our weekly bread,
And forget all of Your promises,
As we forget what You had promised to give us.
And let us not be self-sufficient.
But reward us when we’re servile.
Though ours was the freedom and the power, goes the story
    Gone forever and ever, Amen.
