Florida State has scheduled a Monday morning press conference to announce that ‘Noles Offensive Coordinator Jimbo Fisher will be named the successor to Head Coach Bobby Bowden.
Bowden will continue at the helm for FSU until he elects to retire, and then Jimbo will be named the new Head Coach.
I think everyone is tempted to do a little reading between the lines here and that’s understandable. Bowden essentially has a lifetime contract at FSU, but will likely coach for only another year or two. Naming Jimbo as the future king gives the Seminoles a big advantage with players, fans and recruits.
I can’t even begin to tell you how glad I am that things are working out this way. We get several more great years with Bowden and while our next coach is already at work building the future.
