Merrin and I went to Studio Movie Grill last night to see Pirates 3.
(And while we’re on the subject, the service at Studio Movie Grill was OUTSTANDING!)
Despite the bad reviews, I really enjoyed Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. And, to her surprise, Merrin did as well. I will say this – it’s hella long. Too long, in fact. Way too long.
But Pirates 3 has a lot of the elements that made the first one: sea battles, sword play, cheeky lines, and the ilk. It didn’t have any of the legendary escapes, but that wasn’t really in the plot, either.
If you’ve seen all three, there are some nice payoffs, too. For example, our favorite dog with the keys from the ride and Pirates 1 is back! The cast was really good and the story delivers the resolutions from the previous two movies.
I’d give it three stars. (I gave the first one four stars, and the second one two.) It’s the second best (second worst?) of the three Depp pirate movies.
Don’t let the reviews scare you – it’s pretty good. And, if you can stand to sit for that long (168 minutes!!), you’ll just enjoy it.
Thanks for the review. We’re probably going to see it on Monday when the crowds might have died down a little. It’s off to see Waitress now.
