Extreme Holiday Mashup

Like my friend Rob, I like to indulge in the occassional music mashup.

I mean, come on – combining Green Day’s “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”, Oasis’ “Wonderwall”, Travis’ “Writing to Reach You” and Eminem’s “Sing for the Moment” is… awesome.

Or Golddigger vs the Muppets Manamana… genius.

And, since the secular celebration of Christmas is all about excess, how about a mashup of 2400 Christmas songs (torrent).

the actual composition of the track is as follows:

* 2380 individual tracks, from 140 albums
* 8 seconds extracted from each track

the resulting clips randomly assigned to four simultanious channels, each channel filtered into four frequency slots:

* 0-130 hz
* 254-662 hz
* 922-2000 hz
* 10100-25800 hz

why those frequencies? because it sounds good, and keeps the individual tracks on a just-barely recognizable level.

So, if you’re into listening to four songs at once on different frequencies and can’t get enough Christmas, go grab the torrent file (torrents are our friends!) or download from monocultured.

For me, I’m skipping the 2400 version. Too, too, too much. Unless your smoking your misteltoe, then this is probably the killerest.

Instead, I’ll take the Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters with Fat Boy Slim from the JCP commercials and the Santastic mashups.
