The US Treasury will no longer be collecting the 3% tax on your long distance calls enacted in 1898 to pay for the Spanish-American War. Even better, individuals can file for a refund of all taxes paid since 3/1/03 on this years tax return.
Of course, the Spanish-American War helped bring one Leonard Wood to the American forefront, subject of the F-I-L’s latest book. Wood, who was one of the better known figures of his time & nearly became President, helped found the Georgia Tech football team.
