Best decision ever?

I’m so proud of my wife. Over the past two weeks, she has done such an amazing job at running this family. It has been the biggest load off my shoulders at a time when I really needed it.

The last two weeks have been a real renaissance for us. The stress level in our house has dropped to almost nothing. We’ve both tried to leave work at the front door over the years, but you know how that works. But over the last couple weeks, we’ve actually had time to talk to one another rather than just talk around each other or lament about work stresses.

And the food!! Don’t get me started!! Merrin’s always been a great chef, but now with the time to actually try some new stuff. I’m telling you…she’s going to end up with her own cooking show one day (or better yet – a cooking blog!!)

I think we were nervous about her leaving the workforce, but it’s the best thing we’ve ever done – for both of us. In a way, she’s just doing what she does best – managing the operation. Heck, after 12 years of running ten figure companies, I guess our little home isn’t too tough. Then again, she probably never had anyone like me mucking up her day, either. 🙂

I don’t know if Merrin will ever go back to a 50-60 hour/week job. I hope she doesn’t ever, but if she does, it will be her decision made on her terms, just the way it should be.

My wife is happy and I’m happy. Who knew that “walking away from it all” would remind us both that the most important things in life aren’t beyond our own door – they’re right here at home.

  1. They always say that you can’t take it with you – so why kill ourselves working 60 hours a week, while missing the most important things in life? (Thanks. I needed that reminder.)
