Spray, spray, spray

OK. So I’m getting my bed liner sprayed in the morning. (Isn’t my life is exciting?!)

  1. I have an F-150 too (2004 Crew Cab – not super crew, Lariat) and I need a bed liner. I’ve had it since last July, and keep waffling about it. I also live in the Dallas area. Do you mind if I ask where you’re getting your’s done and how much it is costing? And how did you decide on that brand? Did you research it at all? And why spray-in vs. the shell type that bolts in?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

  2. I did a LOT of research on the F-150 boards and by visiting the dealers and watching them do the installs. The Line-X is a little more expensive, but it is definitely the best out there. No fading & very hard to damage it. Rhino & Line-X are the top brands. When you take a piece of Rhino and rub it against a piece of Line-X, the line-x just cuts through it like a knife.

The Rhino is really soft and “oatmeal-ly” – very lumpy. The Line-X is more like a gritty, hard plastic shell. The Link-x is also 100% color match-able. Even better, the Line-X has a nationwide warranty and you could get it repaired at any dealer. Rhino has to be done by the same dealer that installed it, which is not good, as Truck shops come & go over time. Rhino has to “set up” for 48 hours. Line-X is ready to use in 2 hours.

Mine is being done by Line-X in Lewisville. They quoted me $419 for my truck bed. Prices vary based on size of the bed/truck models. In researching the Ford boards, $399-439 is about average for an 04/05 F150.

I went in with a friend and we’re both having our trucks done today, so they gave us both a $50 discount. They do have an internet coupon for $20 off, so –at least– you can get it for $399.
