September 11th comes home

Tomorrow is going to be a rough day for a lot of people. Even though we “directly” impacted by the attacks, neither Merrin nor I have recovered from the shock. I know I’m not the same person.

Tomorrow the Smithsonian’s “Bearing Witness to History: September 11th” exhibit comes to Fort Worth. It’s the first time it was left the East Coast and it will be at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History through January 4th.

It’s an exhibit that I really would like to see – and at the same time – I know that I cannot.

I took my website down on September 11, 2001, until September 19th because I had no idea what to do say, think, feel. In a lot of ways, I still don’t. I still have the recordings of the September 11 Memorial from last year. I haven’t watched it yet.

I hope I can go to the exhibit while it’s here in Fort Worth. I think I’m afraid to go. I feel like I owe it to a lot of people to try to overcome that fear. They say time heals all wounds…we shall see.
