Norman – you might be Psycho

Friday night was the James Taylor concert at The University of Oklahoma. It was my first trip to Norman and my second/third time to the Oklahoma City area. I promise to give you more info on both the concert (which rocked!) and our trip, but I got to get something off my chest first regarding Norman, OK.

For some reason, NORMAN IS THE BLACK LEATHER JACKET CAPITAL OF NORTH AMERICA. I have no freakin’ idea why, but our exacting research noted that at least 5 out of 8 people wore black leather jackets on Friday, December 6th. I mean, it was so weird that it stopped down our conversation and sent us into census mode! We saw bombers, dusters, stadium jackets, waist jackets, blazers, biker jackets, belted jackets…you name it…all in black leather. All the jackets were relatively nice, but I started to wonder if there was some sort of cult thing going on.

Now I have nothing against leather jackets (err…”jackets that happen to be black”), but I just never thought Norman, OK would be the black leather jacket epicenter of the universe. I like black leather jackets. I don’t own one, but I might someday. They’re OK. But Norman, OK? What gives? I know NYC thinks they have the black leather jacket market covered, but those boys ain’t got nothing on Norman when it comes to black leather jackets per capita.

Long story short, if you’re going to Norman, might want to go ahead and pack a black leather jacket. That’s all I’m saying. :tongue
