“What are you doing New Years, New Years Eve?”
As the music plays in the background, I would like to recap some of my more successful resolutions in 2002:
Bad Habits – After 29 years I was able to stop biting my fingernails, even during the Bucs and ‘Noles games. I still get tempted, but I’ve gotten to the point where I even have a men’s manicure scheduled for next week. Weighty Issues – I managed to sneak down about 20 pounds this year. I rang in the new year @ 195lbs and we’ll close it out at an official 178lbs. Not too shabby.
Hi Ho! – I resolved to kick a little more ass at work and I’ve been swinging some pretty big boots. I got moved over to Stonebriar were they created a position just to bring me in. In less than two months I made my quarterly goal, plus an extra 50Gs.
So, with a moderately successful 2002 behind us, here’s my list of resolutions for 2003:
Get my weight to 165. I know this is feasible and I know I can do it. It’s roughly 10lbs, but every pound counts.Be a little nicer to my wife. I think Merrin would tell you that I’m a pretty good husband. (I’m actually a really good husband, but I’m humble!) I do tend to be a little too busy or a little too tired to give her the focus she deserves sometimes. I’ll do better.Kick more ass. Work is going great, but there’s no reason that I shouldn’t work myself into the #1 position in my office. That doesn’t mean that I’ll get a promotion in 2003, but there should be no question in anyone’s mind that I deserve it by this time next year.Read more. Ahh, so many words – so little time. I think I ought to be able to read at least four books this year. That’s only one a quarter, but you have to crawl before you can run the NYC marathon.Travel. Let’s shoot for three trips that aren’t family holidays – one of these should be to San Francisco, since I’ve been saying I’m going on two years.Have more fun. I’ve relaxed a lot over the past five years or so, but with my XXX birthday approaching, I’ve still got to learn to relax a little bit and try to get out a little more.
OK. That’s a pretty good start. I’m wishing you all a safe and wonderful New Year. I’m logging off and I’ll see you in 2003!
Happy New Year!
