Just home from getting my hair (hairs?) cut for the first time in months. I don’t know why I always wait to long, because I like my hair shorter. My wife like it’s a little longer (I think) and my mother likes it longer still. But I like it short, so that’s the way it goes.
I usually go to Great Clips/Super Cuts/whatever “hair-depot” place is cheap to get my hair cut. I have the “plain” American male haircut, so I’ve never been much for paying $20 to get it cut. Give me a $10 haircut and I look exactly the same as if I had paid $50. So why bother?
My barber was a guy today. That’s extremely unusual in the hair-depot business. I think the last time I had a guy cut my hair was the cheap college barber shop across the Florida State campus. Usually the hair-depots are full of women barbers. Why? I don’t know. Maybe there aren’t as many men going to barber college. Perhaps all the men prefer to work in the “barber” shops. Even “RICK” at the hair-depot was in-between traditional barber shops. Before I left, he said to check back if I liked my hair cut and he’d leave some info on his next permanent locale.
Long story short, I had a guy cut my hair today for the first time in probably 10 years. So when I get home, my wife says, “Looks good, honey,” like she always says. But then, after checking out the back of my head, she said, “Wow. They did a really good job. It looks better than it ever has.”
So, now I’m asking myself, should I abandon the hair-depot and seek out a “barber”?
Anyway, my 29th birthday is now just 11 days away. I’ve figured out a couple of things I might like for my birthday. I’ve asked Merrin to get me a nice electric razor. I love my blade, but sometimes my face feels like it could use a break. I also need a new suit, a couple new ties, and probably some type of gadget. I love gadgets!
Hope you all are doing well. Check in with me later this week!
