Sad news from America’s top zoo

We were all really sad to hear that Babe’s calf was stillborn at the Fort Worth Zoo today. The whole town had been talking about the birth and anxiously awaiting the new calf. The Fort Worth Zoo has done a great job in breeding elephants, with Bluebonnet born in 1998. The latest news says that the zoo will try to breed Babe again in a year or so. But with only 3 or 4 baby Asian elephants born in captivity each year, it may be a while before another calf is born at the zoo.
