Happily Ever After, again??

Our good friends at Disney are working on a whole batch of sequels aimed squarely at ruining my favorite classics. I think it’s re-releasing movies is great. But creating a sequel to some of these is a bad idea. For example, Disney is set to release a sequel to Peter Pan called “Return to Never Land”.

“Return to Never Land” places Peter Pan in the World War II era, where he meets Jane, the daughter of a now grown-up Wendy, after Captain Hook kidnaps the girl amid the raining bombs of the London Blitz.

Huh? What the? Is Peter Pan going to trick Hitler into having his arm bitten off by an alligator? Give me a break. It gets worse:

  • The Jungle Book II
  • Dumbo II
  • Cinderella II: Dreams Come True
  • Atlantis: The Lost Empire II
  • The Hunchback of Notre Dame II

What’s next? A Snow White sequel where she faces the trials of being a recently-divorced, single mother fighting gender-bias and unequal pay??
