The bang-to-hype ratio got a little out of sorts this week with the launch of the iPhone. (Of course, I haven’t seen one, so I could just be an idiot on the subject.)
A part of me — the part that might be inclined to actually buy an iPhone — isn’t focused on the “phone” features so much, but rather the integration of the services that I really do use.
Could I use a really slick PDA with good web access, with multi-account email access & sync, with music & movie playback that synced to my existing library? Yeah – all that would be pretty cool. Do I need a phone? No, I really don’t.
So, for now. I’m pretty happy over here on the sidelines – footloose and iPhone free.
But…. if Apple decides to turbo-charge an iPod with iPhone features and wireless access….. well, I see y’all in line! 🙂
