Checking in from the farm

I put in two more raised garden beds this weekend, bringing our garden collection to four 6’x3’x12″ beds — all built by hand and loaded up with 9sq ft garden soil and 200lbs of cow manure per bed.

I have shallot bulbs, garlic bulbs, and spinach seeds coming in this week, so we’ll get those planted and have some nice veggies going in 40 days or so. These will be a nice compliment to the herbs Merrin has going – basil, thyme, rosemary, mint and parsley.

Speaking of Merrin’s basil, I’m making my first delivery tomorrow of Merrin’s basil to the resort. The Exec Chef is going to be doing some basil oil and needs the freshest basil he can get. We’ve been using the heck out of it and still have plenty to go (it’s five plants nearly waist high), so we’re happy to share.

Now all I need is a pair of overalls and a straw hat. 🙂
